Christian Lacroix Jewelry

Vintage Christian Lacroix jewelry is often regarded as larger than life. The designer was born in 1951 in France, Arles. Christian Lacroix spent most of his childhood in solitude attending bull fights and looking at the remnants of the WWII bombings. He had a passion for the arts and spent most of his time in art galleries enjoying the museum and the paintings.

His initial dream was to become an art curator in a museum. Eventually he met his future wife Francoise who inspired him to do and engage more in the field.

In 1981, he secured a job where he collaborated with Jean Picart to design and create Haute Couture collections. After some years, his partner and he revolutionized the whole phase of the 1980’s designed clothes in bright colors which were extravagant and luxurious.

Up to this day, Christian Lacroix can boast of the very many designs that he has come up with that have sold all over the world. He at the same time came up with luxurious jewelry line that has stood out over the years due to his exquisite taste and originality.

An example of some of his designs is the Lacroix plate’s exotic necklace which was done in the early 90’s. The inspiration to make this necklace entirely adhered to classic times. Made of goldtone link chain that has an oval shape and at the center has pendants that are shaped with curliform markings. The necklace has its signature logo CL at the center and the pendants have hanging florets which are simply stunning. This particular piece was signed by Christian Lacroix himself and its price ranges from £400 per piece.

The other one that is outstanding is the AB Lacroix earrings that go for £200. These pair of earrings has a sheaf that dangles and is also heart shaped. It also bears the designer’s signature.

I personally love this enamel bracelet with five rectangular faces hinged together and fastened with a push clasp. Circa 1990s.
